Miraculous Magical Microgreen’s!

Home Grown Organic Broccoli Microgreen’s in 3-5 days!

     I did this at home, and it yielded results in 3 days. In this article I’ll show you how to grow your own microgreens in a jar with just water and a screen or mesh top. I’ll also cover some of the amazing benefits of Broccoli Microgreens and how they can be used.  I was skeptical when starting this but by the end I truly believe this could be successfully done easily at home.  Don’t let these tiny greens fool you, they pack a huge punch of essential vitamins and minerals. 

      A very important thing to remember when growing broccoli microgreens is that you can’t buy just regular seeds, they must be organic broccoli sprouts. Here is a link to the exact seeds I use. ( https://a.co/d/2Tlei17 ) Regular broccoli seeds contain fertilizer and pesticides that can make you very ill if you ingest them.  I used a pint jar, but you could use any size. I definitely suggest using a wide mouth jar because it allows more air to circulate in the jar and will help you avoid any moldy conditions.  It is also very important to make sure you are rinsing the seeds 3-5 times a day and placing the jar so that they may drain unobstructed. 

      Within 36 hours you will start to see sprouts. The sprouts are edible however they do not contain all the vitamins and minerals fully developed microgreens have. I absolutely love making these and adding them to all types of recipes. This would make a great learning activity for children of all ages. Happy, Healthy Growing!

You will need:

  • Broccoli Sprout Seeds (Organic, Non-GMO seeds) https://a.co/d/9d6zezC
  • A Glass Jar
  • Mesh or Screen Lid for Jar
  • A Well-Lit Area with Good Air Circulation
  • A Way to Sit Jar up at an Angle

Step-By-Step Instructions:

  1. Wash Broccoli Sprout Seeds and leave to soak in water overnight
  2. Drain the seeds and shake to disperse evenly around jar sides
  3. Set in Evenly Lit Area with Mesh End Down and at an Angle
  4. Repeat Soaking and Draining 3-5 times a Day
  5. When your tiny greens take on their second set of leaves, they are officially Microgreens. (You can see an example of second set of leaves on the middle bottom picture.)
